december 31st update

Mt. Hood mountain update for today: At Timberline, Magic Mile and Palmer chairlifts are scheduled to operate, with limited expert-only terrain on Magic Mile—advanced riders only, and please download if that terrain isn’t for you. At Mt. Hood Meadows, terrain continues to expand, with Vista, Star, Mt. Hood Express, Daisy, Easy Rider, Buttercup, and the Carpet planned for today. Warmer overnight temps helped create more pliable snow, allowing the groom crew to lay down fresh corduroy on Vista, though there is still no easy way down from that lift. Hood River Express remains closed for skiing but may run for upload only if parking fills. Expect early-season conditions across both resorts, with hardpack and partially transitioned groomers, and variable, wind-affected snow off the groom, including wind-scoured areas—coverage is thin, so reduce speed and watch for unmarked obstacles. With firm, changing snow, having tuned gear matters—Meadowlark Ski & Sports has ski rentals, snowboard rentals, helmet rentals, hot wax, and edge tuning to keep you dialed for the day. Lift operations and conditions can change quickly, so check updates and enjoy the turns.
