Today the snow showers will bring a magical touch to the world outside. The snow could fall heavily at times creating a beautiful white blanket that covers everything in sight. As the temperature hovers around 10 degrees it will feel much colder with wind chill making it feel like -6 degrees. A steady southwest wind blowing at 14 mph will add to the chill in the air. With a 90% chance of snow we can expect to see 2 to 4 inches of fresh snow accumulating by morning turning the landscape into a winter wonderland.
Mt. Hood Meadows say, ” Good morning! Winter is baaaaaaaack in the best of ways. We have stellar groom on the ground, snow in the forecast, and cool-enough temps to keep what we’ve got in great shape. Bonus this morning – telemetry reading says just an inch of fresh, but reality has 2-4″ of fresh overnight. We’re expecting another 2-5″ today. Come and get your share! Please toss a shovel in your car and plan for a snowy drive – chains or traction tires are required, and as of 5am, there had been limited plowing of roads and parking lots by ODOT.
We’re pushing for as much terrain as we possibly can – Vista and Heather are both highly likely, and Cascade is listed as “likely”. That one depends on the wind and visibility today as this weather system moves through. Today’s best news is that the Heather chair is back up and running. While you’re still welcome to take the runout back to HRM and the HRE lift, you no longer have to. Three cheers for that – we sure heard a lot of cheers yesterday from the folks riding that terrain. It’s hard not to cheer when you’re making blower pow laps through the trees and in the wide-open bowls. Here’s to you getting some of that smile-enducing Type I fun today! “
