February 2nd Weather Update

Snow showers are expected today bringing a magical winter wonderland to our surroundings. The snow could fall heavily at times creating a soft white blanket over everything. With temperatures staying steady around 22 degrees it will feel quite chilly outside. A west-southwest wind will blow gently but it might gust strongly at times reaching up to 29 mph. There is a 90% chance of snow and we could see between 4 to 8 inches accumulating during the day making it a perfect day to ski, snowboard, nordic ski, or snowshoe!

Groomed snow is a special type of snow that combines hardpack and packed powder. This mixture is often found in places that see a lot of wind or heavy use by skiers. In off-piste areas the snow is different; it includes skier-packed powder mixed with frozen granular snow. When entering these off-piste areas it is important to be careful and watch for scoured spots. These areas can be tricky and may require extra attention to navigate safely.

    Get ready for tough and icy conditions this morning but don’t worry! As the day goes on the snow will become softer and more fun to carve and ride on. “It’s a bit cold up here at the start of the day so make sure to dress warmly!” There’s an inversion happening which means the temperatures will change based on where you are. By this afternoon temperatures are expected to climb significantly and reach the mid to upper 30s which will help melt the snow. Mt.     Today’s weather forecast predicts snow showers which could become heavy at times. There is also a chance of thunder accompanying the snowfall. The high temperature will be around 33 degrees Fahrenheit and it will be quite windy with southwest winds blowing at 14 to 24 miles per hour and gusts reaching up to 43 miles per hour. The chance of precipitation is very high at 100% indicating that we are likely to see significant snowfall. Overall total daytime snow accumulation could range from 3 to 7 inches so it is advisable to prepare for winter conditions.
