The mountain picked up a light refresh overnight—about an inch of new snow—just enough to brighten things up for Christmas morning. It’s still very much early-season riding, so expect firm conditions underneath with a thin new layer on top. Take it easy, keep your speed in check, and enjoy what’s open. At Mt. Hood Meadows today, the Ballroom Carpet, Daisy, Easy Rider, and Buttercup are spinning, with the Zoo park open for riders looking to sample some features. Timberline also has beginner access with Pucci and Bruno’s running.
Weather today is shaping up as a mixed bag. Skies are overcast with fog hanging mid-mountain, and temperatures are starting just below freezing before climbing into the mid-30s at the base later this afternoon. Freezing levels are expected around 5,500–6,000 feet, bringing a combo of misty rain lower down and light snow or pellets higher up. While today’s precipitation looks light and on the wet side, a stronger, colder storm is lining up for Friday, with better snow chances and improving conditions heading into the weekend. Winds begin out of the east to southeast this morning, then shift southwest and back off as the day goes on.
