Mt. Hood Meadows- ood morning! We’re a couple days into spring, and the weather is playing right along: tons of new snow yesterday, drizzle right now. We’re expecting on-and-off drizzle all day today with up to 0.25″ total rain – not so bad at all! As of early this morning, it was just a bit of mist. Not rain, not a downpour, not a gully-washer, far from the rainiest of rainy days… just a bit of chilly drizzle helping our snowpack settle. If you’re a practiced slalom skier or snowboarder, you might just be able to carve the raindrops like a racecourse and stay dry! (kidding, of course)

Joking aside… for this drizzly day, we have an accompaniment of a stiff breeze that could impact a lift or two, especially after noon. We also have an avalanche warning issued by our friends over at NWAC. Thanks to the former, the wind, Cascade and Vista are highly unlikely today. Thanks to the latter, our gated terrain will remained closed today for your safety and ours. And thanks to all the aforementioned challenges, our slopes should be relatively empty, and lift lines minimal. Show up, and you’ll reap the rewards of last night’s game of groom crew catch-up: more and better grooming than yesterday. Just make sure you’re waxed right for wet snow! And dress right too – toss a parka over your normal mountain fashion for best results. Substitute a clear plastic bag if you still want to show off your snow style. We’re here 9am-4pm today. Hope to see you on the snow for a rousing round of singing and shredding in the rain. See you soon!

March 22nd Weather

There is a 40 percent likelihood of snow showers tonight, accompanied by predominantly cloudy skies and a low temperature near 21 degrees. Winds will be quite strong, blowing from the west at approximately 33 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 50 mph. Snow accumulation during the night may total between 2 to 4 inches.

Mt Hood Meadows-

4:48am: Are you as stoked as we are? 9″ overnight, 19″ in the last 24 hours, 26″ in the last 48. Windy, with clearing on the way. We expect to park out today. Please carpool or take the CAT bus. If we park out, do not walk on the highway or access roads – we want everyone safe! Please don’t park at Teacup – they have a race today. After you score some fresh tracks, join us for Brewfest.

March 21st Weather Update

Snow is expected to begin primarily after 8 AM, with the potential for heavy snowfall at times. The high temperature will be around 31 degrees. Winds will be strong, coming from the southwest at speeds of 22 to 28 mph, with gusts reaching up to 39 mph. There is a 100% chance of precipitation, and total snow accumulation during the day may range from 10 to 14 inches.

Mt Hood Meadows Surface Conditions:

Dense fresh snow over packed powder, especially on lower slopes.   Forecast calls for a foot or more of new snow today, so it will be deep out there. The lower you go, the denser it will be.  Limited grooming.  Off-piste, dense and deep, heavy fresh snow over packed powder.  Ski and ride with caution, especially if you have not experienced this denser quality of snow over the past week or two.
