January 29th weather update

This week on Mt. Hood and at Timberline Lodge, conditions reflect a mix of light snow and warm Pacific air. About 1″ of fresh snow fell overnight, adding a light refresh to the surface, but daytime temps are running mild, especially at lower elevations, creating soft, spring-like snow by mid-day. Nights are still cold enough to firm up the base, so expect firmer morning laps and softer afternoon turns. Skies bring a mix of clouds, brief flurries, and dry breaks, with only minor chances for additional light snow later in the week. While this isn’t a major storm cycle, the blend of warmth and fresh dustings means variable snow conditions that reward good gear choices and local insight.
