oday on Mt. Hood, conditions are taking on a classic spring-style feel, and both Mt. Hood Meadows and Timberline Lodge are riding a mild freeze-thaw cycle. At Meadows, groomed runs are firm early but will soften quickly under warm, mild skies, setting up for smooth, corn-style turns by late morning. Off-piste terrain is a mix of skier-packed powder, hardpack, and developing moguls, with rapidly changing conditions as temperatures rise—expect variability, low snow coverage in spots, and unmarked obstacles both on and off the groom, so keep your speed in check. Up at Timberline, temperatures at elevation have remained in the upper 40s to near 50°F overnight with calm to light winds and no new precipitation, reinforcing a spring snowpack that will transition quickly once the sun gets to work. If you’re heading up the mountain today, timing your turns will be key—early laps for firmer snow, late-morning into afternoon for softer conditions. Meadowlark Ski & Sports is here to get you dialed with the right skis, boards, and wax setup for variable spring riding, making us your go-to ski and snowboard rental shop on the way to Mt. Hood.
