Snow is expected to begin primarily after 8 AM, with the potential for heavy snowfall at times. The high temperature will be around 31 degrees. Winds will be strong, coming from the southwest at speeds of 22 to 28 mph, with gusts reaching up to 39 mph. There is a 100% chance of precipitation, and total snow accumulation during the day may range from 10 to 14 inches.

Mt Hood Meadows Surface Conditions:

Dense fresh snow over packed powder, especially on lower slopes.   Forecast calls for a foot or more of new snow today, so it will be deep out there. The lower you go, the denser it will be.  Limited grooming.  Off-piste, dense and deep, heavy fresh snow over packed powder.  Ski and ride with caution, especially if you have not experienced this denser quality of snow over the past week or two.

    In the last 24 hours we have received about six inches of new snow. The wind has been strong which affects where the snow settles. As a result the deepest snow can be found in areas that are sheltered from the wind. These leeward spots are ideal for those looking to enjoy fresh powder. It is important to take advantage of these conditions while they last! Below the fresh snow a different layer awaits. This layer consists of frozen granules that create a solid surface. Skiers and snowboarders can feel the firmness beneath their feet as they glide down the slopes. Additionally moguls rise from this surface forming small hills that challenge riders. Navigating over these moguls can be exciting and requires skill making for a thrilling experience on the mountain.     Get ready for tough and icy conditions this morning but don’t worry! As the day goes on the snow will become softer and more fun to carve and ride on. “It’s a bit cold up here at the start of the day so make sure to dress warmly!” There’s an inversion happening which means the temperatures will change based on where you are. By this afternoon temperatures are expected to climb significantly and reach the mid to upper 30s which will help melt the snow. Mt.     Today is a bright and sunny day perfect for outdoor activities. The temperature is expected to reach around 31 degrees making it warm enough to enjoy the sunshine. A gentle north-northeast wind is blowing at 7 to 9 miles per hour bringing a refreshing feel to the air. Occasionally the wind may gust up to 20 miles per hour adding a bit of excitement to the day. It’s a great time to grab a friend head outside and soak up the beautiful weather! Today the snow conditions on the slopes offer a mix of textures for skiers and snowboarders. The groomed areas are mostly made up of frozen granular snow which feels firm underfoot but has a light layer of loose snow on top. This makes it a bit easier to glide along while still providing good control. In contrast the off-piste areas have a hard icy base that can be challenging especially with moguls that vary in size depending on where you are on the mountain. Overall it’s a day that will test your skills and provide a thrilling ride!
