Good morning from Meadowlark Ski & Sports! It’s another classic Mt. Hood winter day with variable snow conditions at both Mt. Hood Meadows and Timberline Lodge, shaped by cold temps, sunshine, and unusually low humidity. Groomed runs are a true mixed bag depending on aspect and time of day—expect dehydrated hardpack that skis a bit different than usual, frozen and loose granular sections, and as the sun works its magic, pockets of corn snow developing on sun-exposed slopes. Off-piste terrain remains variable with a mix of skier-packed snow, hardpack, and moguls. Watch closely for unmarked obstacles and thin coverage in spots, and remember to ski and ride in control as conditions change throughout the day.
Day skiing should be best late morning into early afternoon as surfaces soften slightly, especially on south- and west-facing terrain. Night skiing at Mt. Hood Skibowl will see temps drop quickly after sunset, locking the snow back into firmer, faster conditions—sharp edges and a tuned setup will go a long way under the lights tonight.
For Nordic and XC skiing, classic tracks are firm and fast early, with variable glide as temps rise. Expect some icy sections in the morning, transitioning to more forgiving snow later in the day where the sun hits. Skating conditions will be inconsistent, so classic setups remain the best bet.
