January 7th weather update

The first Wednesday of 2026 is shaping up to be a deep one on Mt. Hood, and it’s an all-time powder day kind of vibe. Mt. Hood Meadows picked up over a foot of fresh snow in the last 24 hours, with another 10–14 inches expected today, turning the mountain into a full-on powder playground. Wind-drifted snow has buried much of the groom, creating soft, playful conditions across the hill. Crews will have some groomed options available, but today’s theme is simple: powder to the people. Expect thigh-burning turns, steady snowfall, and classic midweek face shots—if you can make it up, you’re in for a treat. Bring a shovel, bring the stoke, and plan for winter driving conditions.

At Timberline, temps at upper elevations are sitting in the low 20s with steady snowfall, high humidity, and gusty west winds, continuing to stack snow throughout the day. Snowfall rates overnight have been consistent, helping build coverage and improve conditions across open terrain. It’s a true winter storm day on Mt. Hood, and conditions can change quickly.

If you’re chasing fresh snow, now’s the time. Meadowlark Ski & Sports in Sandy, Oregon has you covered with skis, snowboards, boots, and helmets ready for deep conditions at Mt. Hood Meadows and Timberline. Reserve ahead, gear up locally, and get after some of the best snow we’ve seen yet this season. ❄️🏔️
