Weather/lift update december 29th

Early-season winter vibes are rolling across Mt. Hood today, and it’s shaping up to be a solid day to get out there if you ride smart. At Mt. Hood Meadows, groomed runs are a mix of packed powder, firm hardpack, and some wind-scoured spots, while off-groom terrain features skier-packed powder with wind-affected snow—classic early-season conditions. Low snow coverage means it’s important to keep speeds in check and watch closely for unmarked obstacles. Shooting Star is opening today, unlocking more east-side terrain, while Hood River Meadows remains closed for now. Over at Timberline, Bruno’s and Pucci lifts are spinning, Molly’s is open for advanced access, the Schoolyard terrain park is ready to go, Summit Pass is open from 9am–4pm, and night skiing runs from 4–9pm. If you’re heading up, Meadowlark Ski & Snowboard Rentals has you covered with ski rentals, snowboard rentals, helmet rentals, snowshoe rentals, and cross-country ski rentals—perfect for dialing in the right gear before conditions change. As always with early-season weather on Mt. Hood, lift operations and mountain conditions can shift quickly, so stay flexible and enjoy the turns.
